Disability and Discrimination Act
In the past access to public buildings for the less mobile has been difficult
and sometimes impossible.
Public buildings include places such as: shops, offices, restaurants, libraries,
theatres, in fact any building where the public has access.
The DDA aims to remove ALL physical barriers and many buildings will need to
reconsider their access facilities to comply with the new law.
Access to Work
Access to work is a scheme run by the government that helps the less mobile
improve their career prospects.
The aim of the scheme is to assist employers to meet with the requirements of
the DDA. This is achieved by providing practical help, also grants can be given
towards the cost of alteration or special equipment needed in some cases.
